With 2024 drawing to a close, Paradigm is proud to look back on another successful year of improving the lives of those facing serious health challenges or injuries. Our accomplishments would not be possible without the dedication and talents of our amazing team. From frontline clinicians to behind-the-scenes personnel, we’re thankful for the tremendous contributions of every single member of this organization.
For over 30 years, Paradigm has been committed to our mission of achieving life-changing outcomes for the injured workers, families, and healthcare members we serve. Here are some of our highlights from 2024:
Paradigm once again recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in Health Care™
For the third consecutive year, Paradigm was recognized as one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Health Care™ by Fortune magazine and Great Place to Work®. Based on survey responses from over 185,000 employees in the healthcare industry, this honor reflects Paradigm’s commitment to consistently providing a positive, inclusive, and supportive employee-centric culture. According to the survey, 89% of our employees reported Paradigm as a great place to work, significantly higher than the average U.S. company’s employee approval rating of 57%.
Expanding into the broader healthcare market
In May, Paradigm announced the formation of our new Healthcare Solutions business unit to focus on growing our footprint in the healthcare market with an expanded set of solutions for health plans, third party administrators (TPAs), and employers. Healthcare Solutions encompasses the staff, products, and capabilities that joined the organization as part of the 2023 acquisition of leading healthcare decision-support company Welvie®—leveraging our deep clinical expertise and capabilities.
In support of this exciting expansion, the Healthcare Solutions team exhibited at the annual American Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) conference in June. As Paradigm’s first official healthcare industry event, this was an exemplary showcase of our growing portfolio of solutions, including decision support platform My SurgerySM, our Surgical Implant Savings program, and Complex Recovery Management.

Partnering to lower unnecessary surgical implant spending
In April, payment integrity leader Penstock announced an innovative partnership with Paradigm to launch a program to ensure accurate payments for surgical implant claims. Both organizations saw this as a fantastic opportunity to integrate Paradigm’s robust and established expertise in implant cost management for workers’ compensation and healthcare into Penstock’s programs to enhance claim accuracy. Integral to this partnership is a seamless integration with ClearBridge, Penstock’s comprehensive payment integrity solution that facilitates a more effective and efficient claims auditing process.
Insightful contributions from Care at Home, HERO MSKSM, and the Behavioral Health Clinical Management teams
In 2024, Paradigm’s Care at Home emphasized the importance of high-tech platforms, combined with a people-focused experience to improve the claims management and recovery process. Thought leadership articles published in July and September explored how technology can meet people where they are and the power of Care at Home’s proprietary CareLink platform to optimize communication, increase transparency, and improve outcomes—especially in areas such as home and vehicle modifications.
We are seeing tremendous success from our HERO MSK program—a first of its kind, value-based solution for musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries in workers’ compensation claims, thanks in large part to our leaders sharing the undeniable benefits of value-based care for workplace MSK injuries. Articles published in early April, mid-April, and May delved into how HERO MSK provides guaranteed functional outcomes and financial certainty with a model that incentivizes outcomes instead of activity, removes psychosocial barriers earlier in the care journey, and identifies key risk factors to deliver appropriate interventions.
Deborah Benson, PhD, ABPP, Vice President of Clinical Solutions, shared the importance of a holistic approach when treating injured workers, especially those with behavioral health conditions. As part of our Behavioral Health Clinical Management solution, we provide the expertise and resources needed to support injured workers and their families. Our approach prioritizes individual needs for a successful recovery journey.
Delivering valuable insights at conferences
In June, Paradigm Medical Director Dr. Bronier Costas, an orthopedic surgeon, and David Lupinsky, Vice President, Clinical Product Solutions, were invited to present at the National Council of Self-Insurers. Their presentation, “Shouldering the Burden: Exploring the Rising Cost of Shoulder Claims” explored the underlying causes of work-related shoulder injuries and the potential of a value-based approach that helps self-insured employers control costs and avoid return-to-work delays.
Paradigm had an outstanding week in August at the annual WCI Conference in Orlando, where leaders shared key perspectives on Paradigm solutions for WCI TV. Dr. Michael Choo, Paradigm Chief Medical Officer, Workers’ Compensation, and Elizabeth Ulloa Lowry, Senior Vice President of Risk Solutions, discussed the progress and success of our HERO MSK program. Kathy Galia, Chief Clinical Solutions Officer, demonstrated the positive impact of Paradigm’s Behavioral Health Clinical Management, a goal-based, structured plan that helps injured workers with mental health comorbidities set meaningful recovery goals.
Patrick O’Toole, Vice President of Sales, and Dr. David Ripley, Paradigm Medical Director, who specializes in brain and spinal cord injuries, were invited to present at the Texas Public Risk Management Association conference in November. They explored the complexities of brain injuries and the challenges of diagnosing and treating these complicated injuries, as well as the management strategies that lead to the best outcomes—ultimately helping public employees return to work.
Sharing our ‘Why’ at National Comp
The 2024 National Comp Conference held in October was a fantastic showcase for Paradigm’s thought leadership and advances in life-changing outcomes. Along with serving as a Gold Sponsor for the Las Vegas event, experts from Paradigm participated in four inspiring, interactive, and thought-provoking sessions covering the future of the industry, the disparity in outcomes between workers’ comp and group health, redefining quality case management metrics, and real injured worker stories that illustrate the life-changing difference that whole-person, value-based care makes.
Visitors to the Paradigm booth were asked to share their passion for workers’ comp in the “What’s Your Why? Portraits of Purpose” engagement activity. An on-site artist transformed these ideas into one unifying illustration, while Paradigm made a donation to Kids’ Chance of America for each submission—with our corporate contribution totaling $4,000!
Record attendance at the 2024 Catastrophic Clinical Summit
In September, Paradigm was excited to welcome team members and industry leaders to Chicago for another successful Catastrophic Clinical Summit. This year’s edition saw the highest attendance ever, with more than 450 attendees, and featured an agenda packed with engaging workshops, continuing education opportunities, inspiring case studies, and enriching team-building activities. The 2024 theme focused on how Paradigm delivers unmatched outcomes through whole-person care, clinical expertise, and state-of-the-art advances in health technology.
Kids’ Chance and Paradigm—a rewarding partnership
For more than a decade, Kids’ Chance of America has served as Paradigm’s core philanthropic partnership. Along with contributing more than $1.67 million to this cause during our partnership, our Kids’ Chance Community Team regularly organizes and attends fundraisers and events throughout the year.
This year, Paradigm Chief Growth Officer Kevin Turner was proud to receive the Robert M. Clyatt Distinguished Service Award for his 14 years of work to grow Kids’ Chance. During his time with the organization, Kevin served as both President and Chair of the Advisory Board. While President, he was instrumental in growing individual state chapters to include all 50 states, increasing the number of awarded scholarships, and positioning the organization for continued growth.
Furthering Paradigm’s Limb Loss and Preservation Registry
In September, the Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI), a not-for-profit organization that works as the nexus of science, technology, and public health announced a continuation of its six-year strategic partnership with Paradigm to support our our Limb Loss and Preservation Registry (LLPR™). This crucial national repository of clinical data is designed to improve the quality of care and outcomes for individuals living with limb loss and limb difference.
Looking forward to positive strides in 2025
Once again, our organization shares its deepest thanks for the indispensable contributions of our dedicated teams, valued clients, and trusted partners. By working together, we have all played a pivotal role in advancing our mission to provide life-changing care for injured workers, families, and healthcare members. Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be another year of growth and opportunity, with Paradigm well positioned to continue driving meaningful impact where it matters most.
