Building a Positive Work Experience—Paradigm Once Again Recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in Health Care™

For the third consecutive year, Paradigm has been recognized as one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Health Care by Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work®. Based on an analysis of survey responses from 185,000 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations in the healthcare industry, this honor reflects Paradigm’s commitment to consistently providing a positive, inclusive, and supportive employee-centric culture. According to the survey, 89% of our employees reported Paradigm as a great place to work, significantly higher than the average U.S. company’s employee approval rating of 57%.

This fantastic result has once again enabled Paradigm to secure a spot in the top 20, ranking number 18 for large companies with 1,000 or more employees. Each year, Great Place to Work® compiles this highly competitive list using rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback. Companies were only considered if they were a Great Place to Work-Certified™ organization, a designation that Paradigm received earlier this year.

What it takes to be a Fortune Best Workplace in Health Care
In partnership with Fortune, Great Place to Work® is the only company culture award in the United States that selects winners based on treating employees fairly and equitably. For 30 years, the organization has surveyed companies around the world to gain greater clarity on workplace experiences. The emphasis on fairness and equity means companies are assessed on how well they are creating a great employee experience across race, gender, age, disability status, or any aspect of who employees are or what their role is within the organization.

We are dedicated to achieving this growth on a foundation of a people-first culture. The values intrinsic in the Great Place to Work Survey reflect Paradigm’s commitment to a people-focused organization. Receiving this honor three years in a row exemplifies the central place our employees have in our workplace culture, particularly as we explore new opportunities as an organization.

The ingredients of a great place to work
As an organization with a core mission of helping people and changing lives, Paradigm understands that achieving these goals without a remarkable team would not be possible. Building high-performing teams for long-term success requires a deeply ingrained commitment to collaboration, growth, empowerment, and support, which contributes to attracting and retaining top talent. The Great Place to Work® survey is designed to measure these qualities, and their relationship to organizational trust and consistency of the employee experience, through factors such as clear and honest leadership, fair treatment, and employee recognition.

Paradigm’s Great Place to Work® certification and high ranking on the Fortune Best Workplaces in Health Care list demonstrates a deep alignment between our internal values and the external factors being measured. By always putting people first in our workplace culture, we’ve been able to build trust, pride, and a sense of belonging in the following ways:

  • Belonging: We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, high-performance culture that accurately reflects our society, especially in the healthcare industry. By setting ambitious goals, recognizing individual and team achievements, and prioritizing clarity and alignment, we aim to ensure all employees see themselves as integral to our purpose. Through daily practices and a collaborative organizational model, we promote inclusivity and diversity of thought, knowledge, and experience. The Paradigm workforce embraces differences and commits to positive change, allowing each employee to bring their authentic self to work and provide compassionate care management to those we serve. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee supports these ideals with initiatives like our Colleague Resource Groups, celebrating differences and sharing perspectives.
  • Education and growth: We value and enable an environment of learning and development. At Paradigm, we ensure team members have the resources and mentorship needed to feel supported. Our Learning Excellence at Paradigm (LEAP) platform offers all employees a robust library of training materials and other educational content, including a wide array of topics, ranging from emotional intelligence to clinical best practices. Our recently refreshed and comprehensive new hire onboarding process ensures new employees are set up for success. Our business units and Shared Services teams promote knowledge-sharing and best practices through monthly team meetings and initiative-specific workgroups, like our annual Catastrophic Clinical Summit.
  • Recognition: Paradigm believes that valuing and recognizing team members is fundamental to larger achievements as a company. We take a multifaceted approach to acknowledge and appreciate the exceptional contributions of our employees, including peer-to-peer recognition, employee recognition through our Recognize platform, and our biannual Paradigm Excellence Awards.
  • Communication and information sharing: Paradigm’s Leadership Team is dedicated to high accessibility standards. Our multichannel communication strategy includes monthly Town Halls, smaller group Coffee Chats, newsletters, articles, intranet updates, videos and emails. Coffee Chats with executive leaders offer intimate discussions on personal and professional topics. Monthly newsletters and Town Hall briefings in IT Security, Human Resources, and Marketing equip employees with the tools and knowledge to protect data and stay informed of all things happening internally and externally. The new DEIB and Mental Health Resource centers on our intranet provide easy access to tools and resources to enhance employees well-being, both professionally and personally.

Ultimately, these initiatives and qualities create a workplace culture where employees feel empowered and encouraged to do their most meaningful work. According to Great Place to Work research, high-trust workplace cultures have been shown to outperform competitors in recruitment and retention, productivity and innovation, and financial performance.

Paradigm’s people-focused culture
Year-after-year recognition for workplace culture comes from an ongoing assessment of our culture and a growth-oriented mindset dedicated to truly building a supportive and meaningful place to work. We believe employees who feel supported, engaged, and satisfied will be better equipped to deliver life-changing outcomes to the people we are privileged to serve.
