Celebrating International Women’s Day

Held March 8 each year, International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrating the achievements of women and calling for increased gender equality across our society. This event has been held for more than a century, starting in 1911, and has grown to belong collectively to all groups, organizations, and nations around the world. This year’s theme is “Break the Bias,” and it stresses the need to imagine a world that is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination in order to build communities where differences are valued and celebrated.

Paradigm supports gender equality for everyone
Paradigm enthusiastically supports International Women’s Day since the empowerment of women is a core element of growing a culture that represents all individuals. John Watts, Paradigm CEO, states, “We have made a big investment at Paradigm in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion over the last few years and gender equality is a mainstay of our program. I am very proud to state that 83% of manager and senior manager roles at Paradigm are held by females. These roles are vital, as they are the future leaders of our business. And, about our progress, I say, may it continue.”

April Armour, Vice President of Risk and Data Solutions, was recently named as the newest executive sponsor for Paradigm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) steering committee. She has taken over this role from Rashmi Nijagal, Paradigm’s General Counsel, and acknowledges the fantastic work Rashmi and the committee have achieved over the past year and a half: “As someone who has been with Paradigm for more than 25 years, I’m proud to see a renewed focus on DEI and will continue to do my part in ensuring these values stay at the heart of our organization.”

Armour added, “Building equality and overcoming bias in the workplace is a team effort that transcends gender lines and identities. I can personally point to both women and men who have been instrumental in supporting me inside and outside of my career, and I want to build an environment where everyone can feel empowered.”

Help us raise awareness
Please help Paradigm in this effort to recognize International Women’s Day by liking and sharing our posts across our social media platforms today and throughout March. On LinkedIn in particular, we will feature a few employees through a video compilation that tells their personal stories about an influential woman in their life.
