To celebrate the 2019 Kids’ Chance of America Awareness Week, I have a lot of good news to share about Kids’ Chance and how Paradigm and our colleagues support the national and state organizations. Help spread the word on social media Nov. 11-15.

As the largest corporate sponsor of Kids’ Chance, Paradigm supplies crucial funds to help establish and grow member organizations in each state. More than 15 members of the Paradigm team from coast to coast volunteer to provide leadership support to those organizations. They plan and attend fundraisers throughout the year and regularly raise awareness.

Paradigm’s nurse case managers play a significant role in having direct contact with the families of injured workers; they identify families with qualifying children of all ages during the injured worker’s recovery process and share information on how Kids’ Chance can provide scholarships and educational assistance. By identifying eligible children at an early age, the Paradigm’s Kids’ Chance referral program lays the groundwork for college with support and assistance, especially for first generation college students, and those who may not have otherwise had the access or opportunity for higher education. By practicing this Whole Family approach, this benefits not only the family, but the community.

New Kids’ Chance page on Paradigm website
We’re introducing our Kids’ Chance page on Paradigm’s refreshed website, where you’ll find exciting updates on Paradigm teammates who volunteer for KCOA and why they give their time to this important organization, such as Geoff Lavinson, Associate Vice President, Catastrophic Care Management, and Vice President, Board of Directors, Kids’ Chance of Delaware.

“Most of us, including our families, have benefited tremendously from having careers in workers’ compensation. This organization provides us all an opportunity to give a little bit back and help those families through some very tough times,” Geoff says.

More money for more kids
Collectively, since its creation in 1988, Kids’ Chance organizations have awarded over 7,300 scholarships totaling over 24 million dollars! In my second year as president of Kids’ Chance of America, I’m so grateful for the leaps and strides over the past three decades, three years, and even the past three months.

In the 2017-2018 scholarship year the Kids’ Chance community:

  • Awarded 645 individual student scholarships; an 8% increase over prior year
  • Provided $2,784,000 in scholarship; a 14% increase over prior year
  • Awarded $4,300 on average in scholarship per student applicant
  • Awarded 16.5 scholarships on average per state

Thanks for everything you do to support Kids’ Chance. With your continued help, we’ll expand the community to include even more injured workers, students, and employers.

Social media contest
We’re featuring an employee social media contest this week to raise awareness with our online communities: Paradigm employees can share any of the Paradigm KCOA Awareness Week Nov. 11-15 posts for a chance to win. An employee with the most Likes or Shares from each division will be selected and announced on November 20th.

I encourage everyone in our community to follow the Paradigm and Kids’ Chance social media accounts to increase visibility of this important organization:
