Illuminating Paradigm’s Path:
2022 Highlights

As we reflect on the past year, it is clear that we have made progress in our mission to improve more lives. We continue to expand our business with innovative solutions that allow us to serve more people and deliver better outcomes for injured workers and our clients. The key to our success always comes back to the people who make it all possible–the clients and partners who support us, our dedicated leaders, team members, and clinicians, and the injured workers whose positive outcomes we remain dedicated to delivering.

This year we have a lot to be proud of. These are a few of our key business highlights:

Paradigm Named Great Place to Work
Great Place to Work® and Fortune honored Paradigm as one of the Best Workplaces in Health Care™ 2022. This was Paradigm’s first time being named to this prestigious list, and our strong ranking at number 20 reflects our commitment to a positive, diverse, and supportive employee-centric culture.

Deepening Our Product Innovation
Building on the HomeCare Connect acquisition, which closed at the end of 2021, Paradigm welcomed its new colleagues, and worked collaboratively to integrate HomeCare Connect into a new Care at Home suite of services, extending the continuity of care we offer from hospital to home.

Paradigm’s Case Management Solutions continued to evolve and set a higher bar for patient-centered care, working tirelessly to build pathways back to patients’ homes, families, communities, and meaningful work, all of which are exemplified by Paradigm’s unparalleled outcomes for return-to-work and medical improvement rates. Our strong national team comprised of more than 800 skilled case managers was a core reason that Paradigm was named a Best Workplace in Health Care. Paradigm is committed to continuing to provide a best place to work in the years to come.

By furthering product development of our risk-based products for both musculoskeletal and severe injuries, we’ve expanded the range of injuries where we can deliver financial certainty and guaranteed outcomes. Our HERO Severe product delivers Paradigm’s clinical expertise to your cases that don’t rise to the most extreme catastrophic level. The value of our MSK-focused solution was featured in multiple media outlets, including WorkCompWire, Risk & Insurance, and Business Insurance.

We’ve expanded our relationships with the top specialty providers to offer innovative, data-driven network solutions for the most expensive and unmanaged segments in workers’ compensation. We added a number of premier Orthopedic provider practices to our network, including Forte Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Hudson Pro Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and OrthoMidwest. We’ve used our data and analytics capabilities to improve operational processes and deliver greater value back to our clients. And our Surgical Implant Cost Management Solution received the Fall 2022 Health Plan Innovation Roundtable (HPIR) Traction Award.

Elevated Our Executive Leadership Team
In line with our business growth, Paradigm’s senior leadership team has evolved, with many of our executives moving into expanded roles to help us accomplish our strategic goals. We elevated one of our most tenured executives, Kevin Turner, to Chief Growth Officer to lead all sales, account management and new product development activities for Paradigm. Kathy Galia was promoted to Chief Clinical Solutions Officer with responsibility for Paradigm’s risk-based products and case management solutions. By positioning these top executives in new roles, we created opportunity within their former teams, promoting Elizabeth Ulloa Lowry to Senior Vice President, Risk Solutions. In our Case Management Solutions organization, we’ve proudly promoted from within. Shannon Ford, who joined the company when Paradigm acquired Encore in 2016, was promoted to Senior Vice President, Case Management Solutions.

Thought Leadership Presence
We continued to lead impactful industry conversations and meet with colleagues at flagship industry events, including National Comp 2022 and WCI 2022, among others. We also developed bespoke educational forums to offer our expertise in more focused settings, including our 2022 Catastrophic Clinical Summit and our 11th annual Innovation Symposium. To better understand the market, competitive environment, and insights from our clients, we held our inaugural Client Advisory Summit.

Paradigm continued its educational mission by offering new insights and learning opportunities on key clinical topics, including the importance of psychosocial support and the pivotal role behavioral health services plays in recovery with an in-depth webinar Whole-Person Care, Real Results: The Impact of Behavioral Health Expertise, from Injury to Recovery. Dr. Michael Choo also co-published an article on long Covid in workers’ compensation with NCCI.

Setting the Stage for Success in 2023
Paradigm concludes the year filled with gratitude for our clients, partners, and teams who have all played a pivotal role in furthering our mission. As we look to the new year, we are in an excellent position to continue delivering life-changing outcomes for injured workers and their families.
