October 11th–17th is National Case Management Week. Sponsored by the Case Management Society of America, this annual event celebrates the continued development of the field and the progress that has been made each year. For 2020, the theme is “Case Managers Can,” and at Paradigm, we certainly know how true this is.

Across our entire enterprise, including the Case Managers in Complex Care Solutions and Network Managers in Catastrophic Care Management, this role is absolutely fundamental to our mission. Paradigm would be unable to help injured workers and their families at such a high level without the tireless dedication of the Case Managers and Network Managers at our front lines.

Our Case Managers and Network Managers can do it all
Throughout the week, the entire Paradigm organization came together to recognize and thank our unparalleled Case Management Team for their contribution to our organization, their patients, and the field as a whole. We all believe they really are the guides who take our injured workers on their recovery journey.

In keeping with the 2020 theme, here are just a few examples of the many things our Paradigm Network Managers and Case Managers do:

• Coordinate the care of a team of clinical experts, including nurses, medical directors, clinical specialists, and community support specialists to ensure those with catastrophic injuries achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Communicate constantly with family members to ensure they are included in the care and recovery process at every stage.
• When facing down the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Case Managers have repeatedly found creative solutions to connect providers with injured workers, get postponed surgeries rescheduled, and work directly with injured workers and their families.
• Through their tireless dedication, 91% of injured workers who worked with a Paradigm Complex Care Case Manager are medically released to return to work.

Every day, Paradigm’s Case Management Team truly exemplifies the spirit of collaboration, advocacy, and dedication to improving lives that this week is intended to promote.

For Paradigm Network Managers, case management is a family affair
If you talk to Network Managers at Paradigm, one word that comes up regularly is family. From coordinating with other nurses and medical directors to working with patients and their families, there is a need for genuine rapport and emotional support to successfully navigate these highly complex and challenging cases. While it is common to hear people at Paradigm refer to team members as family, for some of them, it’s especially true.

This week, we’re publishing a three part series highlighting how our next generation of Network Managers are following family members into this critical profession.
