Paradigm Outcomes Celebrates National Nurses Week

Paradigm Outcomes is celebrating National Nurses Week—an important recognition for those who tirelessly provide care and comfort every day. National Nurses Week, May 6-12, began as a tribute to Florence Nightingale, who is credited as the founder of modern nursing. This year’s theme, “Ethical Practice. Quality Care,” emphasizes the importance of critical thinking in nursing and acknowledges the incredible dedication and compassion nurses provide their patients.

There are many great ways to celebrate the nurses in our lives. Here are four fun ways to get into the spirit:

  1. Show a nurse you care: Whether it’s flowers, breakfast, or an on-site massage, bringing in a little something during National Nurses Week helps show your appreciation of the amazing work they do.
  2. Involve students: Connect with local nursing students on a fundraiser or a mentor program.  The outreach will not only help connect the next generation of nurses to the current workforce, but it can also help reinforce the positive image of nurses in the community.
  3. Advocate for improvement: Health care is an important issue to voters, and National Nurses Week is a great way to get local politicians involved in their community. Invite a local politician to accompany your nurses while on the job, or arrange a Town Hall meeting so nurses are able to share ideas for improving the healthcare system.
  4. Keep learning: The American Nursing Association (ANA) is hosting a free webinar on May 7 titled, “My Patient, My Code, My Practice: Ethical Decision Making and Action.” Check it out!
