Response to COVID-19: Post-Acute Care Providers

As information related to COVID-19 changes rapidly, Paradigm remains committed to the critical work of helping injured workers and their families in their time of greatest need. For this reason, we want to reassure our Post-Acute Care program clients that we are in constant contact with our network providers as well as the patients accessing the program. Currently, Paradigm has widely available access to its Post-Acute Care providers, as the overwhelming majority remain open to admissions at this time. We will continue to update you on feedback we are receiving from the provider and patient communities.

Currently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the nation’s federal regulatory compliance agency for Post-Acute Care providers has issued no requirements that Post-Acute Care facilities should cease patient admissions.  In their March 13, 2020 letter to each state’s regulatory enforcement survey directors, CMS did issue guidelines regarding how facilities should restrict visitation of all individuals and non-essential health care personnel.  Exceptions apply including compassionate care situations.  When such circumstances arise then a structured visitation process including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be utilized.  Also, when a facility is in a state where that state’s Governor has issued an executive order further restricting/controlling facility visitation or admission standards, CMS defers to said gubernatorial executive order.  CMS has also directed the nation’s Post-Acute Care providers to stay abreast of any recommendations for institutional healthcare providers issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Paradigm Specialty Networks continues to remain fully functional, scheduling and rescheduling injured workers for our customers on a daily basis. Examiners and case managers alike can continue to rely on Paradigm Specialty Networks to coordinate Post-Acute Care admissions by either dialing (844) 443-2792 or emailing referrals-networks@paradigmcorp.com.

Should future events unfold requiring a Post-Acute Care provider to decline an admission during the current Public Health event, Paradigm’s Care Coordination team will work proactively and tirelessly with the treating acute care hospital and other Post-Acute Care providers in the geographic area to secure admission to an alternate provider.  Emergent and sub-emergent referrals are being handled with typical urgency. Trust that when contacting Paradigm Specialty Networks for your Post-Acute Care needs we will have current information to help guide your injured workers, and expect that we will update the industry accordingly as our experience changes.

Should you have any questions, or need an injured worker properly placed for Post-Acute Care services, do not hesitate to rely on Paradigm Specialty Networks to help guide you and your injured workers to recovery as we navigate these challenging circumstances together.
