For the second year in a row, Paradigm has been recognized as a Best Workplace in Health CareTM by Great Place to Work®. This is a true honor, as it’s based on an analysis of survey responses from hundreds of thousands of employees at Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations within the health care field. According to the findings, 90% of our employees reported Paradigm as a great place to work, significantly higher than the average U.S. company’s rating of 57%.
We are especially proud to have climbed to No. 17 in the rankings, up three places from No. 20 in 2022. We are committed to continuous improvement, and our elevation on the list is a testament to our employees’ dedication to our mission, and their willingness to share innovative ideas to help us improve in all facets of our business. Even more humbling is that the Best Workplaces in Health Care™ list is highly competitive, and to be considered, organizations must first be certified by Great Place to Work®, a designation Paradigm received earlier this year.
What distinguishes a Great Place to Work in Health Care?
Great Place to Work® is the only company culture award in the United States that selects winners based on treating employees fairly and equitably. The assessment focuses on workplaces with a great employee experience for every single person across race, gender, age, disability status, or other factors. It is rooted in the idea that everyone should feel supported by their employer and equipped to succeed in their job.
These values perfectly reflect Paradigm’s own commitment to our people, and our North Star of putting people first. Being honored two years in a row demonstrates how essential living these values is to our mission and workplace culture. We know that creating a purposeful culture is a multifaceted endeavor. Below are some of the various areas of focus essential to our development.
Belonging
First and foremost, we ensure all employees have a clear understanding of and see themselves as integral to Paradigm’s mission and purpose. Every decision is driven by our mission to help as many people as possible, and when our employees feel a sense of purpose and belonging, it positively impacts our injured workers, patients and their families, and our clients.
Paradigm employees also take pride in a welcoming culture of success. We nurture one another, respectfully challenge each other, and share candid feedback, always with the intent to develop and elevate our performance, while positively recognizing both strong individual and team achievements.
We are also allies and advocates for marginalized communities and regularly and actively promote inclusivity and diversity of all kinds. Internally, we constantly update and reinvigorate our diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) efforts to promote a workplace where every single person can bring their whole self to work. We’ve also seen great success with the addition of Colleague Resource Groups (CRGs) bringing together Paradigm employees from across the nation. Our current CRGs include Women of Color, Rally Around Kids’ Chance, Culture Champions, and Mind and Body Connection.
Externally, we are a proud national partner of the Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation, an organization devoted to the advancement of women for the betterment of the industry. Additionally, we’ve supported Kids’ Chance of America, our core philanthropic partner, for over 11 years and have over 25 members on our Kids’ Chance Community Team. We also sponsor and partner with several organizations working to build a better tomorrow, like the Rainbow Risk Alliance, Kind Souls Foundation, and Arthritis Foundation®.
Education
Education is paramount to our culture and mission. With our goal of helping as many people as possible, Paradigm holds CEU webinars and publishes position papers and insights to empower the industry and those we serve.
Investing in our employees’ education and development is an essential component in our culture. Our industry is ever evolving, and providing our employees with the opportunity to develop their skills to meet the needs of our clients and patients allows us to provide the best possible outcomes for everyone. We accomplish this through an environment of comprehensive learning, including a robust library of varied developmental training through our Learning Excellence at Paradigm (LEAP) learning management system.
Additionally, our yearly Catastrophic Clinical Summit brings together hundreds of Paradigm employees, external partners, and expert speakers over the course of a few days to participate in engaging workshops and continuing education opportunities. This is an excellent chance to exchange best practices and share the latest industry approaches, trends, and philosophies.
Wellness and recognition
Wellness for Paradigm employees means placing equal importance on our physical and mental health. Because we understand that mental health is an integral component of a person’s overall well-being, we offer our employees monthly webinars on a myriad of topics—including improving sleep habits, emotional wellness, brain health, and more.
Our monthly WellNews employee newsletter provides helpful tips, engaging and fun health challenges, and our dedicated intranet site offers an array of resources regarding mental, physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
Another essential aspect of our organizational culture is our deep appreciation for our employees and their contributions. Recognizing and valuing our team members is at the heart of our company values, reflecting our belief in their vital role in our collective achievements. We employ a multifaceted approach to acknowledge and appreciate the exceptional contributions of our employees, including:
Leadership communication
Our exceptional Executive Leadership Team sets a standard for accessibility in our organization. They not only lead by example, but also consistently prioritize our mission and the well-being of those we serve in every decision they make.
Our leadership team shares a deep commitment to fostering transparency, open dialogue, and candid feedback. They utilize a multichannel communication strategy to ensure that information flows effectively throughout the organization. This approach includes hosting monthly Town Halls, engaging in smaller group Coffee Chats, and disseminating valuable insights through newsletters and articles.
Through their accessible leadership and unwavering dedication to clear and open communication, our leadership team contributes significantly to our organization’s success and its ability to positively impact our mission and organizational culture.
Ultimately, delivering the best possible outcomes for the patients, families, and clients we serve requires a dedicated team of people who know how to work together and have the resources and support they need. The ability to attract and develop compassionate talent that can truly make a difference in people’s lives requires a steadfast dedication to a purpose-driven, employee-centered workplace.
