As More People Work Remote, Are Home Offices Ergonomically Sound?

Proper workplace ergonomics are extremely important to the health and safety of your workers and play an essential role in preventing injuries and improving productivity. With more people than ever working in home-based environments, there are many new ergonomic-based challenges that we should all consider.

“From safety to stress reduction as well as using appropriate office equipment, a work-from-home environment requires a proactive stance to overcome potential hurdles,” says Paradigm Complex Care Solutions CEO, Marijo Storment, RN, BSN. “By taking the right measures, organizations can decrease their risk exposure to a range of concerns, including potential workers’ compensation claims.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for a range of virtual services, including ergonomic consultation.

“Paradigm Complex Care Solutions has successfully delivered in-person ergonomics support for many years. We’re now very excited to offer virtual solutions to help any business implement an effective ergonomics program for their employees who now have home offices,” said Jessica Ogren, OTR/L, CDMS.

What virtual ergonomics services can Paradigm provide?
The Paradigm Complex Care Solutions team has effectively transitioned our robust workplace ergonomics expertise into solutions that can help any workforce working at any location. It’s a “work anywhere, anytime” solution. We offer the following virtual services that are easily delivered to remote workers and provide customized education to both large groups and individuals:

  • Customized Ergonomic Webinars. A Paradigm ergonomics expert hosts a live 30-minute webinar for employees to learn the importance of good working posture, workstation ergonomics, and tips for stretching and stress reduction. The webinar can be customized to the specific needs of your workforce and may be recorded for future use.
  • Ergonomic Consultations. A Paradigm ergonomics expert conducts a 20-to-30 minute video consultation with an employee to address ergonomic concerns and provide practical, easy-to-implement strategies for improvement. These could include common at-home items for workstation modifications, stretching exercises, and recommendations for ergonomic equipment, if appropriate. A formal report can be provided if desired.
