Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new Insights report from NCCI that examines “Long COVID” as a follow-up to the first section of the report released in collaboration with Paradigm’s Dr. Michael Choo a year ago.

This new report examines preliminary trends and potential impacts of long COVID in workers’ comp from the perspective of both medical and indemnity costs. Key findings included that 24% of workerss comp COVID claims had Long COVID. NCCI reported that 20% of non-hospitalized and 47% of hospitalized COVID-19 workers’ comp patients developed Long COVID. The average temporary disability indemnity benefit duration for long COVID patients was about 160 days for hospitalized patients, and 95 days for nonhospitalized patients.
