WALNUT CREEK, CA – July 16, 2012 – Paradigm Outcomes today announced Thomas C. Schell, CPCU, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, will speak at the 67th Annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Joining Schell will be Evan Falchuk, President and COO of Best Doctors, Sherri Hickey, Medical Management Director for Safety National, and Stephen Dionisio, Vice President at Munich Reinsurance America. Panelists will discuss the expert physician model—a key component to improving medical outcomes and reducing workers’ compensation costs. The discussion takes place on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 9 to 10 a.m.
The session, “Using the Expert Physician Model to Lower Claim Costs and Improve Employee Outcomes,” will address the reasons why getting appropriate and timely medical care to injured workers can make a significant financial difference in many complex claims, such as high-risk orthopedic injuries and evolving chronic pain syndrome. Schell will offer guidance on recognizing the red flags that indicate when this model should be applied.
“This will be a highly relevant session full of best practices and opportunities for audience members to ask questions of highly respected industry experts,” said Schell. “I’m eager to share Paradigm’s experience achieving highly functional outcomes for the most complex catastrophic and chronic pain claims.”
A respected workers’ compensation professional with more than 30 years of experience in claims, healthcare delivery and care management, Schell is a frequent speaker on challenges facing the insurance industry. He has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, and taught the CPCU Business Law course at the Insurance School of Chicago. He is a member of the New Jersey Chapter of CPCU, and serves as a founding member of the Board of Directors of AMCOMP.
